Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM)
Health services have evolved since independence and trained nurses' midwife have been posted in hospitals or PHU (Primary Health Units). Thereafter village level female health workers also served as a bridge between the community and the health services. WHO in 1961 conceptualized the uses and training of these works called Auxil¬iary Nurse Midwifery (ANM). In the present scenario ANM serves not only as a nurse and midwife but also as mul¬tipurpose health personnel.
